A unique Luxury Ski Chalet, Chalet Sundara is a dynamic, elegant home from which to base your family’s adventure into the timeless grandeur of Chamonix and the French Alps. With a beautiful interior achieved through a tasteful mix of modern design and materials reflecting the rich history of its environment, a sojourn at Sundara restores the mind, body, and spirit.
Based around the restoration and refit of an impressive, stone, Swiss barn roof that provides a glamorous yet warm sense of scale to the floor plan of the living room and dining area, Sundara’s first level offers a 110m2 open living space, perfect for gathering with family after inspiring mountain days. A large dining table capable of seating 12 encourages the creation of meals meant to be remembered, a cozy, comfortable sofa area with a cast iron ethanol fireplace invites romantic alpine ambiance, and an office/desk combination allows for connection with the world back home when required. Chalet Sundara offers it’s guests a large, open-plan kitchen with breakfast table, ideal for gourmands and those on the go alike, abutted by a pantry and wine fridge.
Standing before the south facing wall of the first floor, guests will marvel at Sundara’s totally organic immersion in some of nature’s most dazzling landscapes thanks to a full glass exterior. The panorama of Mont Blanc’s Massif is absolutely stunning; take a closer look and the eye will be rewarded with a glimpse of Chamonix’s celebrated cable car as it climbs into the jaw dropping Aiguille Du Midi station. Sliding doors on the west side of the living area open out onto an upper garden and terrace, completing an architectural magic trick of easeful transition from within to without. Guests savouring Sundara in winter may find themselves enjoying its welcoming seating area, and in warmer months outdoor dining and a barbecue area inspire laughter, wine, and culinary delights shared amongst friends.
Four suites capable of sleeping 8 guests feature prominently on Sundara’s ground floor, with one master suite providing true luxury in the form of a king size bed, ensuite shower and bathroom. Three double/twin rooms with ensuite shower rooms round out the accommodations. All bedrooms feature Fiber optic WIFI and in-room entertainment with direct access onto the south facing terrace and hot tub. The ground floor centers on relaxation and rest, thanks to a multi-faceted spa with steam room, dry sauna and large shower area with an additional ice shower. After returning from a thrilling day on the mountain, a ski room with boot dryers and equipment storage awaits; guests are invited to store skis in the heated, closed garage. Space for one car is available inside, with parking outside the property for an additional 3 more vehicles. The driveway is fully heated and snow free throughout the winter.
The Location
A crown jewel European vacation destination, Chalet Sundara sits nestled intimately in the elevated village of Les Moussoux, high on the southern alpine slopes above Chamonix’s town center, at the heart of one of the most sought-after locations in the famous valley. With views that must truly be seen to be believed, Sundara affords a panorama across the Mont Blanc Massif that reveals some of the most celebrated north faces of the alpine world.
Ski lift Brevent is a quick 10-minute walk from the chalet, the Aiguille du Midi station can be reached by foot in 20 minutes, and Chamonix Center’s beautiful pedestrian area packed with shops and restaurants is an easy 15-minutes’ walk spent peacefully breathing deeply of the revitalizing mountain air. We do, however, encourage our guests to remember the return walk to the Chalet is uphill, so plan accordingly! Central train and bus stations also can be reached by foot in 15 minutes, and public transport can be used to access all the Ski Stations within the Chamonix Valley.
